Itinerary Image

  • Amazon Rainforest Experience – La Casa del Suizo (Swiss House)

    • Satisfy your curiosity about the Amazon rainforest, learn new things, and most importantly, have fun and relax with friends and family at one of Ecuador’s most established jungle lodges.

    • Each day on the Napo River promises a new adventure: spotting monkeys along the way, meeting local communities, and even building your own raft. At sunset, relax by the pool at La Casa del Suizo while enjoying stunning jungle views.

    Butterfly Farm

This living exhibit houses and serves as a breeding site for nearly 20 species of local butterflies. You can observe how they feed, reproduce, and complete their metamorphosis. You will also have the opportunity to enter the “Wing Room,” where hundreds of colorful butterflies fly freely around you.

DAY 4 - AMAZON REGION (B,L,D)

Itinerary Image

Jungle Hiking

Explore the incredible primary rainforest of Misicocha or Cosano, La Casa del Suizo’s private reserve, accessible by a short canoe ride. Various hiking trails are available, with different difficulty levels, lasting from 1.5 to 4 hours. You will walk through dense, humid jungle paths, cross muddy trails, and observe a wide variety of wildlife. Throughout the hike, your local guide will reveal the secrets and wonders of the rainforest.

River Tubing

Float down the Napo River, gazing at the sky and forested riverbanks, comfortably seated on an inflatable tube skimming the water’s surface. You may feel as if you have entered an Amazonian paradise. A guide will accompany you in a motorized canoe and pick you up at the end of the route.

AmaZoonico Wildlife Rescue Center

At AmaZoonico, a rescue sanctuary for Amazonian wildlife, you will enjoy a unique experience observing ocelots, tapirs, caimans, macaws, and more. Guided by volunteers, you will hear the incredible and sometimes tragic stories of animals rescued from illegal wildlife trafficking. By visiting AmaZoonico, you help support the protection of these remarkable creatures.

Visit to an Indigenous Family

Discover the lifestyle of indigenous families in the Amazon during this intimate visit. Located on nearby Anaconda Island, just a short canoe ride from La Casa del Suizo, this Kichwa-speaking community began using electricity in 2015. The matriarch, Doña Carmela, welcomes visitors and shares culinary techniques, household traditions, and daily practices. The men demonstrate how to hunt using a blowgun—try hitting the monkey-shaped target!

DAY 5 - BAÑOS DE AGUA SANTA (B,L)

Itinerary Image

Baños de Agua Santa

Baños is home to countless waterfalls, the most famous being Pailón del Diablo (Devil’s Cauldron), also known as the Río Verde Waterfall. This impressive cascade drops 80 meters (262 ft) with a depth of 20 meters (65 ft).

Enjoy the balconies overlooking the waterfall, the suspension bridge, and the Sky Crack, a naturally formed fissure that leads behind the waterfall—must-see attractions that make Baños a unique destination.

We also recommend visiting Veil of the Bride Waterfall (Velo de la Novia), named for its white waters resembling a bridal veil. It features a single drop of 40 meters (131 ft) and is located along the Baños–Puyo road, near Llanganates National Park. Here, you can also ride a small cable car (tarabita) and enjoy stunning views of the Pastaza River.

Tarabita Ride over the Pastaza River

Ride a cable car across the Pastaza River and enjoy extraordinary views of waterfalls, mountains, and jungle landscapes. The breeze on your face and the thrill of height make this an unforgettable experience full of adrenaline.

DAY 6 - BAÑOS - RIOBAMBA (B,L)

Itinerary Image

Swing at the End of the World – La Casa del Árbol

One of Baños’ most iconic attractions is the Swing at the End of the World. Swing out over a deep ravine with spectacular views—it’s an experience you’ll never forget. From here, enjoy panoramic views of Tungurahua Volcano and the surrounding mountains.
We will also visit La Mano de Pachamama, a new attraction offering breathtaking views of Baños and the cloud forest—perfect for photos.

Riobamba – The Sultana of the Andes

After lunch, we travel to Riobamba, capital of Chimborazo Province. Known as the “Cradle of Ecuadorian Nationality” and the “City of Firsts,” Riobamba is surrounded by volcanoes such as Chimborazo, Tungurahua, El Altar, and Carihuairazo.
Founded in 1534, it was the first Spanish city in Ecuador and later hosted the country’s First Constituent Assembly in 1830.

DAY 7 - RIOBAMBA - NARIZ DEL DIABLO – INGAPIRCA - CUENCA (B,L)

Itinerary Image

About a 30-minute drive away, we will visit the first Spanish Catholic church in Ecuador, dating back to 1534. After a 45-minute drive, we will enjoy a magical place known as the Palmira Dunes, a desert located in the highlands.

One of the most beautiful landscapes to be admired during this journey is the Devil’s Nose (Nariz del Diablo), a vertical cliff rising 765 meters high. In 1902, railway engineers devised an ingenious way to climb this imposing mountain by carving a zigzag route into its slope (many lives were lost during the process). The train slightly diverts to the north, switches tracks, heads briefly south, and switches tracks again, slowly ascending and descending the Devil’s Nose. (Currently, the train is not operating due to certain Ecuadorian regulations; however, if it is operational during your trip to Ecuador, we will include the train ride at no additional cost).

We will also visit the town of Alausí, home to the old railway station. After lunch (picnic-style), our next stop will be the Ingapirca ruins.

Ingapirca, located in the southern Andes of Ecuador, specifically in the province of Cañar, is an archaeological complex of Inca origin. It is situated at 3,160 meters above sea level and 42 kilometers from Azogues, the capital of Cañar province. It is also located 89 kilometers north of the city of Cuenca. Ingapirca is a sacred site of Inca occupation in Ecuador.

It is considered the most important pre-Columbian archaeological site in the country and the best-preserved Inca architectural complex in Ecuador. Ingapirca is a Kichwa word meaning “Inca Wall.” This site is a magnificent example of the Cañari–Inca culture.

Covering an area of four hectares, it was an important religious, political, scientific, military, and administrative center during the Inca conquest. The Ingapirca ruins include a cemetery, solar observatories, roads, storage facilities, priests’ dwellings, and an indigenous plaza. The constructions at Ingapirca are made of perfectly carved stones joined together with natural mortar.

Within the archaeological complex, the Temple of the Sun, also known as the Castle, is considered the main core. This temple features an oval platform, unlike the rest of the settlements, which are circular in shape. Ingapirca is a must-see site, as it is part of the Andean Road System, Qhapaq Ñan. Additionally, Ingapirca brought together the Cañari culture (500 AD) and unified various cultures through the Tahuantinsuyo.

Like Machu Picchu in Cusco (Peru), Ingapirca symbolizes the power of the Inca civilization. Ingapirca offers us a glimpse into the past and allows us to learn about the Cañari and Inca cultures. Be amazed by the different temple construction techniques, the precision of solar calculations, and the advanced aqueduct system. After this visit, we will continue our journey to the city of Cuenca (approximately a 2-hour drive). Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 8 - CUENCA – CAJAS NATIONAL PARK - GUAYAQUIL (B,L)

Itinerary Image

More About Baltra

Baltra is one of the main gateways to the Galápagos Islands, home to Seymour Airport, also known as Baltra Airport. This small island is also locally known as South Seymour. During World War II, it served as a United States Air Force base, strategically located to patrol the eastern Pacific and protect the Panama Canal.

The island’s arid vegetation is characterized by salt bushes, prickly pear cacti, and palo santo trees.

More About Santa Cruz

The Largest Tortoises in an Accessible Visitor Site

The highlands of Santa Cruz are home to a large wild population of giant tortoises, which roam freely across private lands and Galápagos National Park areas. During our visit, you will notice the difference in size between these tortoises and those found at other visitor sites.

There are 15 subspecies of land tortoises in the Galápagos Islands, four of which are extinct. These tortoises exhibit two distinct shell shapes: Saddleback and Dome-shaped. Santa Cruz is unique in hosting three tortoise subspecies that display both shell types, allowing visitors to clearly observe the differences and better understand the evolutionary process that shaped these giant, prehistoric-looking animals.

More Information About Bartolomé Island

Considered the most iconic landscape of the entire archipelago, the view from the summit of Bartolomé Island, featuring the famous Pinnacle Rock with the stark Santiago Island in the background, is well worth the walk along the wooden boardwalk. This volcanic scenery is often compared to a lunar landscape.

Our snorkeling excursion may allow us to spot Galápagos penguins, white-tipped reef sharks, and playful sea lions.

This small island is located in the central part of the archipelago, and on a clear day, the viewpoint offers views of more than ten islands. The island’s diversity and richness are the result of the upwelling phenomenon, where cold ocean currents surround the coast and provide abundant nutrients for a wide variety of marine species.

  • 2-hour navigation

  • The trail consists of wooden steps leading to the summit of this volcanic cone, from where we can admire the unique landscapes of the Galápagos Islands

DAY 11 - SANTA CRUZ (B,L,D)

Itinerary Image

More Information About Santa Cruz Island

Santa Cruz is the most developed island in terms of human population, with its origins tracing back to the story of a man who was abandoned and survived in a former scientific settlement, as described in The Voyage of the Turtle. The highlands of Santa Cruz form one of the largest green areas in the archipelago; for this reason, agricultural activities began in the early 1940s and have grown steadily ever since.

The Charles Darwin Research Station was established in the town in 1959, significantly contributing to the advancement of scientific research and conservation projects.

The island features six distinct vegetation zones, each very different from the others. The contrast between the arid coastal zone, located at the base of the island just a few meters above sea level, and the Scalesia and Miconia zones, found only on San Cristóbal and Santa Cruz at around 700 meters above sea level, is clearly reflected in the island’s landscapes and ecosystems. One of the most unique shrub forests stretches across the central part of the island, above the Twin Craters (Los Gemelos).

Activities in Santa Cruz

  • Breakfast

  • In the morning, we will visit one of the most beautiful beaches in the Galápagos—and possibly in the world—Tortuga Bay. We will walk approximately 45 minutes to reach the beach and then enjoy free time to relax and appreciate this stunning natural setting (beach time).

  • Lunch: TJ Restaurant

  • In the afternoon, we may visit the Charles Darwin Research Station, where you will learn about conservation programs for the different species of the Galápagos Islands

  • Dinner and overnight stay

Dinner: Bahía Mar Restaurant

DAY 12 - NORTH SEYMOUR ISLAND (B,L,D)

Itinerary Image

More Information About North Seymour Island

This flat, uplifted island is an outstanding place to observe the magnificent male frigatebirds courting females with snapping sounds, bill clattering, trembling, and wing flapping, while proudly displaying their bright red, fully inflated throat pouches. It is also very likely to see blue-footed boobies performing their unique courtship dance, lifting and showing off their striking blue feet to attract a mate.

Sea lions, swallow-tailed gulls, the crashing waves, and distant views of the Daphne Islands complete an unforgettable visit.

The visitor site is located next to the nesting area of both magnificent and great frigatebirds, which remain in the trees throughout the year. Witnessing the courtship rituals of the blue-footed boobies is one of the main highlights of the experience.
