Santa Cruz: Where Life, Nature, and Evolution Converge
Santa Cruz is more than an island—it’s where human history and natural wonder intertwine.
Here, stories of resilience come to life, beginning with early settlers who shaped the island’s identity. Over time, this became the most vibrant and developed island in the Galápagos, while still preserving its extraordinary natural essence.
As you move through Santa Cruz, you don’t just observe landscapes—you experience transitions.
From the dry coastal shores just meters from the ocean to the lush highlands rising above 700 meters, each ecosystem reveals a different side of the island’s personality. Misty forests of scalesia and miconia create an almost surreal atmosphere found in very few places on Earth.
In the heart of the island, the Twin Craters stand as silent witnesses to its volcanic past—surrounded by rare, endemic vegetation that feels untouched by time.
Your journey also connects you to purpose.
At the Charles Darwin Research Station, conservation becomes real. Here, science, protection, and hope come together to preserve the fragile balance of the Galápagos ecosystem.
